July Birchbox

Subscription boxes have always been one of my favourite ways to discover new beauty products, ever since I received a 3 month subscription to glossybox one Christmas. I loved the idea of trying out a product in miniature form and discovering new brands in the process. After my glossybox subcription ended, I was intrigued with the idea and started to look into the different types you can get. There were so many to choose from and something to suit everyone.

Even though I had a good experience with glossybox, I wanted to try another and Birchbox was one that jumped out at me. First of all I loved the different designs of the boxes and the range of products you received. Second, when you sign up to Birchbox you fill in a beauty profile specifiying the types of products you would like to try. You tell them your skin and hair type, your make style and they tailor make your box to suit your needs. You are also able to choose one of your products yourself each month, so you know that you’ll have at least one fabulous treat!

At £10 per month (plus £2.95 P&P), it won’t break the bank and many of your products are worth more than the monthly fee. As this would be my first Birchbox I only wanted to purchase the one to see what I thought, but you have to sign up to the monthly subscription. However, this is extremely easy to cancel whenever you want and you can easily re-subscribe if you change your mind.

When I received the Birchbox, at first I was a little disappointed by the size of the box and thought I may have wasted my money. But on opening it and seeing the products I was thrilled! It was very exciting not knowing which products you would get and I thoroughly enjoyed taking each one out and studying it (that sounds a teensy bit sad, sigh). The July edition had collaborated with Millie Mackintosh, which I was so pleased with as I really admire her make style. So natural and effortless, she never looks too done up.

The products I got were:

John Freida Luxurious Volume 7 Day In-Shower Treatment – I haven’t tested this out yet, but anything that will give my hair volume is a winner in my book.

Caudalie Anti-Wrinkle Protect Fluid Broad Spectrum SPF20 – This glides onto the skin beautifully and a little goes a long way. It leaves my skin feeling firm and smooth after use and the added SPF is a bonus.

Nails Inc Gel Effect in Old Bond Street – I have yet to try this nail varnish as it’s a deep royal blue and during the summer I tend to stick with pastel or coral shades. But I can see this becoming a firm favourite on my nails come Autumn.

Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator Exfoliating Cleanser – Another product I’ve yet to use properly, but something I’m very excited about as cleansers are a product that I love to swap and change. The micro crystals within this should leave my skin smooth and silky.

LOC Ultra Gloss Lip Pencil in Bohemian RoseThe colour of this lip pencil is a dusky pink and looks gorgeous on!

Lord & Berry Smudgeproof Waterproof Eye Liner – This was a free gift when I signed up, everyone is gifted something extra in their box in the month they begin to subscribe. So far, this is very true to it’s name, it doesn’t smudge when you wear it but can be easily removed with make up wipes.

I was so impressed with the products and the service from Birchbox that I’m seriously considering signing up for a few more months, I can already hear my bank balance weeping.
